In fact, trick or treating could be difficult. While opening the door to trick-or-treaters, however, you could give quite a scare by turning yourself into an ancient bust.

To do this you need to create a cardboard column which fits around your legs, reaching up to just past your elbows. Remember how Greek columns appear, with flat square top and bottom, perhaps some ridges along the sides. Chances are, unless made wide enough, your whole body will not fit into the column, so consider forming it just half way around your body and positioning yourself at the party or your front door where the back side will not be seen. Paint the column white, then select a medium from which you were created: bronze or marble perhaps. This will mean selecting a suitable color of top, draped tunic-style over your shoulders, and painting your face bronze or white. Go complete still, then come to life and scare people.

Another twist on the Greek theme involves your whole body. Few costumes could be easier. Create a loose, long gown with gathers at the shoulders from a long sheet or very large t-shirt if you are a child. Adults will have to stick with a large piece of material or a sheet. In either instance, make sure the fabric is white. To adapt your large piece of fabric, cut a hole at the half-way point. Your gathers will hide any mistakes.

Next, buy or make sandals to lace in criss-cross fashion up to below the knee, also in white. Female hair-styles can be braided and tucked close to the scalp, or caught up high with tendrils dangling prettily. Portray Caesar with a crown made from foliage circling at the temples.

Perhaps the most popular statue portrayed at costume parties and Halloween is The Statue of Liberty. The obvious theme here is green. Use a similar style of gown to that of the Greek statue.

You want the lace up sandals, again in green. Accessories for this costume include a flame to hold in one hand and a crown, both green. For the crown, use a hair band in the appropriate color or cover it with fabric or construction paper. From here tape, glue or staple seven long points made from foam or construction paper to stick up and out in an arc. The torch can be made from construction paper or cardboard shaped into a cone with orange tissue paper coming out the centre representing flames.

With these tips I’m sure you now can figure out the best look for your statue costume this Halloween. I’m sure it will do a great impact on your family and friends.

Roman Statue Costumes

Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears

Roman Statue Costume

This was the very first line of the ever popular speech made by Mark Antony on Julius Caesar’s death. A lot of people wear Roman Statues Costumes simply because it’s easy to acquire; all you have to do is drape a piece of cloth around you, wear sandals and you’re all done. Just kidding though.

It usually takes a lot more preparation when it comes to wearing Roman statue costumes and togas, especially if you’re willing to wear nothing but the toga and your underwear since Romans who wore the togas back in the ancient times wore nothing underneath their togas.

Why this costume?

Julius Caesar was probably one of history’s most influential Roman emperor. During his time, there were a lot of people fighting for the throne but only Caesar was able to ascend because of his achievements in the battlefield. Because of his power over Rome and its workings, a lot of people feared and hated Caesar and this was the reason why he was assassinated.

Caesar was an influential people; he didn’t control Rome, but also its people. He was also a dictator and there were a lot of people who were used to living in a republic government. When Julius Caesar died, the golden age of Rome started when Augustus took the throne.

Julius Caesar was someone that men want to become; powerful, influential and rich. The Roman statue costumes enable the wearer to feel what it’s like to be Julius Caesar or any other Roman historical figure.

The second costume

While the Roman costume may sound simple for others, there’s also another form of the Roman statue costumes which can help bring laughter to the people in the party.

Have you ever seen those pillars with heads of famous Roman emperors and figures? That’s how the second costume would look like: of course, you wouldn’t be wearing marble.

You’d be a living statue if you actually wore one of these; it’s kind of similar to how someone would dress up like the Statue of Liberty at a party.

There are over a hundred versions of Roman Statue costumes so the possibilities are just endless; some of the materials would probably be the same but there are other intricate costumes which are more expensive and detailed.

All in all, whether you want to be the life of the party or just want to be Julius Caesar for a day, then the Roman statue costumes are definitely the way to go.
